Science on Screen: The Martian (2015) with post-screening discussion with Dr. Jason Heaton
Dr. Jason Heaton (Professor of Anatomy in UAB’s Department of Biology) will join Sidewalk for a post-screening discussion following our screening of The Martian on the evening of Tuesday, May 20th. Throughout his career, Dr. Heaton has taught a diverse range of courses in biology and anthropology and has enjoyed engaging with students at all levels. Dr. Heaton is especially interested in how The Martian highlights the human capacity to survive through ingenuity, cooperation, and emotional resilience. This film blends real science with timeless survival strategies–storytelling, routine, problem-solving, and global teamwork–that reflect how human adapt to extreme isolation and uncertainty. Please join us for our third and final installment of our Science on Screen series!
Science on Screen® is an initiative of the Coolidge Corner Theatre, with major support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
Please Note: The Q&A for this screening will be filmed.
