Forces of Nature Documentary Film Workshop

Kira Dane & Katelyn Rebelo, Andrew Nadkarni

This workshop will focus on the deeper intentions that went into the filmmaking processes of two short documentary films in the Forces of Nature: Documentary Shorts program - Between Earth & Sky and Through Sunless Ways. Using the shared theme of human relationships with their natural environments as a starting point for conversation, filmmakers Andrew Nadkarni, Katelyn Rebelo, and Kira Dane will discuss some of the artistic and personal practices that contributed to making films about the natural world. The workshop will begin with a short breathing meditation, followed by a discussion on how to move beyond the confines of what an “environmental film” should look like, a brief exploration of tactile filmmaking using natural materials, and a chance to speak with the filmmakers about their process. Don't forget to attend the screening of their films "Through Sunless Ways" and "Between Earth and Sky" at the cinema on January 17th at 7pm.
