Avery Hellman (aka, ISMAY) is a non-binary, aspiring musician from a notable, musical family living on the family ranch in Northern California. Avery lives there, not only because of a significant connection to the land and farm life, but also as an escape from a society that they feel deeply disconnected from. A saving grace has always been their hero, country/folk music star, Lucinda Williams, whose image of confidence, success and masterful songwriting shines as a guiding light of possibility to Avery’s isolated existence. In a road trip across the south, Avery travels to find people and places that note benchmarks in Lucinda’s early career, in hopes of finding inspiration and guidance for their own artistic journey.
