Erotic 80’s: 10 (1979)

A temptingly tasteful comedy for adults who can count.

Blake Edwards

10 is part of Sidewalk's Erotic 80s Series - Inspired and informed by the “Erotic 80s” season of film critic and historian, Karina Longworth’s, acclaimed podcast “You Must Remember This”, Sidewalk Cinema’s Erotic 80s film series highlights 10 influential and emblematic erotic thrillers featured in the series. As Longworth suggests, the controversial 1979 film 10 escorts us into the 1980s and sets the tone for films to come. Longworth's “Erotic 80s podcast proposes that, throughout the 1980s’, “Hollywood movies explored the sexual lives, mores and fantasies of adults with degrees of candor, realism and imagination not seen before or since.” Over the course of 12 podcast episodes Longworth investigates the cultural, social and political impact of the erotic thriller genre throughout the decade and beyond. The “Erotic 80s” film series presents the opportunity to catch zeitgeisty erotic thrillers on the big screen.

Film Synopsis: A Hollywood composer goes through a mid-life crisis and becomes infatuated with a sexy, newly married woman.

The series can be viewed on its own, but is also intended as a companion to the award-winning podcast series, listen here: https://www.youmustrememberthispodcast.com/
